Community

We believe that it is just as important to build great communities as it is to build great companies. Both are essential to sustain and constantly improve the standard of living Canadians have come to enjoy. XPV is a proud supporter of the following community initiatives:

ACE (Advancing Canadian Entrepreneurship Inc.) is a national, not-for-profit organization that is igniting young Canadians to create brighter futures for themselves and their communities. Working in partnership with business and higher education, ACE organizes and motivates teams of university and college students who practice and teach others the principles and values of entrepreneurship and market economics.

Imagine H2O is a not-for-profit company with a mission to inspire & empower people to solve water problems. Their vision is to turn water problems into opportunities.

Imagine H2O hosts prize competitions for water innovation including their 2009 Water Efficiency Prize and upcoming 2010 Water-Energy Nexus Prize.  They offer not only cash prizes for the best ideas, but also an incubator program to help competing entrepreneurs turn their plans into game-changing real-world solutions. The program helps innovators identify problems that have social impact and major commercial market opportunities, chooses the most promising plans, and brings together world leaders in water business, government, and social enterprise to help the contestants turn ideas into self-funding, high impact solutions.

SIFE (Students In Free Enterprise) is a global non-profit organization based in the United States that is active in more than 40 countries.  SIFE is funded by financial contributions from corporations, entrepreneurs, foundations, government agencies, and individuals.  Working in partnership with business and higher education, SIFE establishes student teams on university campuses.  These teams are led by faculty advisors, and are challenged to develop community outreach projects that reach SIFE's five educational topics:

  • Market Economics
  • Success Skills
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Financial Literacy
  • Business Ethics

SIFE team members leverage their personal educational experiences, the expertise of their faculty advisors, the support of their local business advisory boards, and the resources of their institutions to implement programs that create real economic opportunities for members of their communities.  The effectiveness of their programs is judged at competition.  Each national SIFE organization conducts a national competition, which is judged by leaders from its business community.  At competition, SIFE teams present the results of their educational outreach projects and compete to determine which team was most successful at creating economic opportunity for others.  SIFE National Champion teams advance to the top level of competition, the SIFE World Cup.
