Dr. David Lloyd Owen
Dr. Owen is one of the leading global experts on the water and wastewater industry with over 20 years of experience in advising governments, corporations and investors on water related matters. Currently, Dr. Owen is the founder and Managing Director of Envisager Limited where he has developed a unique series of global databases, covering companies active in the water and waste management sectors, and the markets they serve.
Dr. Owen served as an equity analyst at Savory Milln and Banque Paribas, as Founding Director at Ecofin Limited, as Director, Research at Delphi International, the latter two being environmental investment boutiques. He has worked for corporate clients, institutional investors, multilateral agencies and government bodies. As a member of the advisory board of the Luxembourg Pictet Funds (LUX)-Water, he has contributed to the development of the Fund since its inception. He is a Member of Glas Cymru, the non-profit company set up to manage the assets and operations of Dwr Cymru Welsh Water , a non-executive director of EnviroGene Limited and sits on the Advisory Board of Beehive Capital’s water fund and is head of research at WHEB Ventures, a London based CleanTech fund.
His publications include five books on the water sector, along with papers and conference materials, including what is considered to be the water industry bible, Pinsent Masons Water Yearbook, and writes a monthly column for Global Water Intelligence. His professional qualifications include; Registered Corporate Finance Advisor (FSA), Chartered Geographer status (FRGS), Chartered Environmentalist (MIEEM) & Member of the Securities Institute. His first degree was Environmental Biology at Liverpool University, followed by a Doctorate in Applied Ecology at Oxford University.
